Why episode 7 is one of my faves, Part 3 of 3

That whole damn fucking scene is so great…so great I get emotional watching every time.

If I wanted to put greatest character moments done by Aya Hisakawa. I would put those scenes. Thank you.

You guys, I’ve made a huge mistake. I got sick (a mistake, but not one I could avoid) and re-watched all of Twelve Kingdoms. And now I am OBSESSED WITH IT AGAIN OMG STILL SO GOOD
Please, please tell me the fandom is bigger than that it was seven or eight years ago! Otherwise I’m going to have to read Japanese fanfiction through Babelfish translator again. (You’ve never been truly hard up for fandom until you resort to parsing through almost unintelligible text in the hopes of finding a few lines about your ship.)
So here’s hoping there are more fellow fans out there than I know! Or, uh, that you’ll at least tolerate my dedicated shipping when it emerges!

So. Introducing my newest ship, Yoko, schoolgirl reluctantly turned queen, and Rakushun, the adorable nerdy half-rat. As I explained to Margo earlier, in my horribly sloppy summary style:

So it’s about this Japanese schoolgirl that gets whisked away to another world because she’s supposed to be the new queen over there, and she’s not really fit to rule yet.
BUT ANYWAY, there’s tons of trouble and stuff and she makes friends and enemies and things. ONE OF THESE FRIENDS is the most adorable half-rat in the history of ever (in fantasy world there are half beasts that look anthropomorphic but can change their appearance to look fully human, too).
He’s STUDIOUS and SO VERY NOT A NICE GUY. (There’s an scene where he’s like: I wanted you to trust me, but that’s your choice, so it’s okay if you don’t! Right after she abandoned him because she was feeling DISTRUSTFUL OF PEOPLE AND THE UNIVERSE). Anyway they made up and he’s super mega supportive and things.
AND AHAHA, there’s this scene where she’s THINKING OF HOME and being all TORN about going there and abandoning her new people or staying and never seeing it again, and she’s LOOKING OUT INTO THE DISTANCE as people do in animes. He wants to reach out to her so he TURNS INTO A HUMAN (unclothed!! because rats don’t wear clothes!) and puts his hands on her shoulders and tells her not to look.

Just look at that okay? I’m pretty sure that’s not me imagining things! (I’m always afraid, when shipping new things, that it’s me imagining things). THERE WAS ALSO a delightful couple of scenes were Yoko, reunited with Rakushun, RUNS AND HUGS HIM VERY AFFECTIONATELY. He tells her to please don’t do that. Later when they’re guests at a palace and put into nice clothes, and she wonders where her friend is, because she’s not seeing him anywhere. They point at a handsome young man and she goes RED IN THE FACE while poor Rakushun just points outs that, yeah, that’s why he didn’t want her to hug him like THAT.
(AND THESE WERE MY SHIPPY THOUGHTS. Sorry!)

New illustration was posted up on the website earlier!
And since I don’t think it’s been mentioned anywhere in the tag previously, I might as well add this on—Eugene Woodbury has started translating Wings of Aspiration. While it’s currently not as far along as Tokolsky’s translation, new parts are being added every Thursday!
